Pardon my tardiness and procrastination in updating my blog. These cookies were baked months ago (I think before christmas last year), but I was just too busy during the christmas and chinese new year period followed by laziness to update my blog. It sure takes a little effort to take photos, upload into the blog and write (or I should say type) a little story about the food and the recipe. And here I am, finally taking the time to update my blog with these beautiful, irresistible and delicious chocolate chunk cookies.

Pierre Herme Viennese Chocolate Sables
It's Christmas season again ..... Time to bake some cookies as gifts for friends. Let's go for one of the recipes in Chocolate Desserts by Pierre Herme's book - Viennese Chocolate Sables. Everyone (or I would say majority) loves chocolate. Furthermore, I have leftover egg whites in the fridge. Don't waste them. And this recipe uses egg whites only. What a good timing .....

Bouchon Bakery-Style Dark Chocolate Cookies
Chanced upon this recipe in one the books I borrowed from the library. This is quite a good book but I can't remember the title. Will have to go look for it again next time I visit the library. I was attracted by the word Bouchon Bakery and the author's write-up about the cookies. The cookies were sure mouthwatering and decadent. You just cannot stop at one.

Chinese New Year Goodies 2013
The Lunar New Year is here again. Here's wishing all of you a prosperous, bountiful and healthy Year of the Snake ahead. I'm sure CNY is a very busy period of most mothers and wives. There is the spring cleaning to take care of, buying new clothes for our loved ones, baking goodies and preparing the big feast on CNY's eve. Sometimes I wish that we can skip all these preparations by going for a holiday during the festive period. But with school-going children, it's a little difficult to arrange. That's just one tiny excuse. Much as I dread going through the preparation, I look forward to the baking, cooking and meeting up with my relatives too. So ironic, isn't it?

Cookies for Christmas
I bought some nice cookie cutters for this Christmas. Time to take these cookie cutters out to bake some nice shortbread cookies for my friends as Christmas gifts. I've never baked shortbread cookies before. The nearest one to it is the cookie of the pineapple tarts that I bake every year. They are very similar in ingredients except that these shortbread cookies do not use eggs. They are pretty easy to make except that the dough needs some cold, tender loving care in order that the shapes come out nice and clean.

Peanut butter chocolate chunk cookies
It's a lazy Saturday afternoon and I was restless. The kids were in tuition classes; I was feeling lazy and wondering what to do. Should I bake something or think of what kind of dinner spread to prepare or should I do some housekeeping? Not in the mood for anything. That's bad. I have to get out of this mode. I have to do something. Help ..............

National Day Cookies Party
It's Singapore's 46th birthday. I made two batches of cookies for Ryan to bring to his class party. On top of these cookies, Ryan included two packets of corn chips. He wanted me to melt some cheddar cheese to go with the chips. Unfortunately, the melted cheese hardened into one big lump upon cooling. So how? Forget about the cheese. The boys just have to eat the chips without the cheese dip. After dropping him off at school in the morning, some of the other mummies and I had our very own breakfast party at Bishan Park MacDonald. We had a wonderful time catching up on what our boys were doing in class.

Cranberry Chocolate Nuts Cookies
It's been a long, long time since I last baked cookies, not counting those Chinese New Year goodies. I have been baking mainly cakes and it's nice to get back to baking cookies. I have only baked double chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter and coffee crunch cookies so far. Not so many varieties compared to my cakes galore.

Double chocolate macadamia nut cookies
Melted chocolate and cocoa powder go into these cookies, making them double chocolaty for chocoholics. Blended oatmeal and macadamia nuts are added for extra crunch.
